Where It All Began
The LOVE Star was created in honor of my grandmother, a woman whose extraordinary capacity for love has always inspired me.
She survived the Holocaust, losing her younger sister to typhoid while they hid from the Nazis in the forest. After the war, she gave birth to my mother in a displaced persons camp in Austria. Despite everything she endured, she remained remarkably sweet, kind, loving, and open to the world.
When I find myself getting caught up in the small frustrations of everyday life, I think of her. She reminds me to do better, to be better—and that even after experiencing the very worst of humanity, it is possible to choose love.
The LOVE Star was born from that legacy: a symbol of Jewish identity, resilience, the human spirit, and the belief that love can rise above hate.
